heather stark
Forest Play Program Manager and Leader
Crash! Snap! Giggle, giggle. It’s hard not to hear Heather at play in the forest. Beginning in July 2018, Heather relocated from her hometown of Calgary to pursue her calling with Forest Play. She attributes her admiration for the natural world to her parents' nurturing and the privilege she had growing up with Calgary's Fish Creek Park as her backyard. Heather’s gentle, playful and curious demeanour guide her mentoring style. She asks thoughtful questions to push the edges of learning and fosters a safe environment for children to explore.
Heather graduated from the University of Calgary in 2013 with a BSc in Geography and went on to complete a Bachelor of Education in 2018. Heather has taught kindergarten at Alpenglow in Canmore and Calgary Nature Kindergarten as well as worked as an Alberta Parks Interpreter. She is motivated and grateful for the opportunity to foster connection to self, others and nature.
If she’s not crashing through the forest, she’s seated quietly; Heather is a keen birdwatcher and enjoys springtime the most as the birds return from migration and buds begin to grow. Forever at play, Heather can’t resist running fingers over piano keys, pressing plant seeds into the soil and is always keen to shoot hoops with friends.
